Harb’s Grandson:Sisi regains Egypt's glory in many domains

Grandson of Talaat Harb Pasha and International Financial and Banking Expert Mahmoud Ibrahim asserted Egypt’s quantum leaps.

Grandson of Talaat Harb Pasha and International Financial and Banking Expert Mahmoud Ibrahim asserted Egypt’s quantum leaps under the excellent leadership of President Abdel Fattah e-Sisi since he took office in 2014. He shed light on similarities among the economic patterns throughout modern Egyptian history during the last three centennial patterns since 1811.

He highlighted over his voice on (Daily Debate) that Egypt witnessed drastic changes since the 19th century when Mohamed Ali Pasha, the father and founder of modern Egypt, put an end to Mamluk Sultanate regime in 1811 and then in the 20th century Talaat Harb Pasha, the pioneer of the Egyptian economy, jump started to fulfill a long-standing dream of establishing a national bank and inaugurated Banque Misr in 1920 to become the first bank to be wholly owned by Egyptians.

Reaching this point, he mentioned the third 100 years starting from 2011 when the revolution took place to end Hosni Mubarak’s rule and downfall and after 3 years President Sisi took office in 2014 to lead a pioneering era for new Egypt and to launch in 2015 the New Administrative Capital. As both born in El Gamalia, Cairo Governorate, Talaat Harb and Sisi proved efficient in regaining Egypt’s glory, he added.

Throughout the last 4 years, Ibrahim hailed the government’s decision of floating the Egyptian Pound and praised the tourism sector especially amid daunting challenges due to the COVID-19.

Likewise, he stressed Talaat Harb’s title of Pasha as bestowed upon by King Fouad, giving him credit for detaching the Egyptian economy from any colonial investments, backing gender equality, citing the example of his financial support to Om Kulthom, and boosting tolerance which was clear when he insisted that the founding members of the bank represented different confessions. In the same context, he added, King Farouk also inaugurated two statues for him across Egypt.

Touching upon his recognition in the name of the Pasha, the expert expressed great honor for his family to receive Order of the Nile which they displayed in the Talaat Harb Museum. He declared that Harb was greatly influenced by the foreign culture; English poet Rudyard Kipling, and Greek poet Constantine P. Cavafy, etc.

In light of digital transformation, he reassured that the Egyptian govt will prove successful in digitizing the economy and accordingly reducing the number of civil servants, referring to the great success of the smart universities which “will aggressively improve our credit rate for the future”.

This new episode of (Daily Debate) aired on Nile TV International is conducted by president of the channel Taghreed Hussein.
